GEB 2019 Kuala Lumpur Business Ideas

The sixth edition of the Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, which was held from 16 to 19 December, brought together 120 youngsters from 30 different countries along with a dozen entrepreneurs and experts as mentors to create an environment for innovation.

Meal Minion

Pakistani software agencies are, in the majority, still selling decades old Point of Sales software to restaurants, very few restaurants have websites, and even fewer have any way of online ordering apart from high commission charging food delivery services. A manual approach to stock control leads to inefficiency and a waste of resources. Competing in the mobile Application sphere seems to be a daunting and expensive avenue for most businesses to explore. Not fully exploiting the potential business to be garnered from Facebook pages. And Finally While in the world data analytics has surpassed oil in value but continues to be ignored by businesses in Pakistan.

“In the modern business environment tech advancement makes possible the compression of a myriad facilities on your fingertips, and this is the ideal towards which Meal Minion strives” says the team Meal Minion with members Daium Ahsan Butt, Adnan Azeem, Iwo Adam Hachulski, Hijab Ali and Yashwi Solanki.

Meal Minion is a 360-degree restaurant management platform by providing a well-integrated and user-friendly system that aids into the day to day operations of a restaurant through the use of state-of-the-art point of sales software, data analytics, accounting, dynamic inventory management, and payroll services. Furthermore, we wanted to introduce restaurants to the web sphere without hurting their bank accounts or having to rely on high commission 3rd party food delivery services. This is achieved by Meal Minions proprietary online and social ordering plugins as well as white label restaurant mobile applications.

Lavida

Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death globally and is responsible for 31% of all global deaths. This problem occurs due to expensive and inaccessible healthcare system and lack of knowledge. 26% of people who have previous heart attack history face recurrent heart attack every year. Only one third of people who have previous heart attack history take CVD rehabilitation. Most of the people do not take CVD rehabilitation because lack of health insurance coverage, high out of pocket cost, low referral rates from healthcare professionals.

Addressing this issue, Omaima Doukkane, Shaima Zaman, Shanewaz khan, Mamun and Ragib proposed the concept of Lavida.

Lavida aims to create a more accessible, more affordable and smart rehabilitation system for CVD patients. We want to create a remote interface which will provide a digital platform for both the patients and the doctors to interact. The company will provide a package which includes a wearable and a software to send patients health data to their doctors. The doctors will monitor these data on a regular basis to suggest their patients and keep them in regular checkups.

Electrocycle

It is estimated that globally there are around 40 million tons of e-waste that accumulates per year. E-waste differs from general waste as it contains various hazardous substances and toxic chemicals which have the potential to pollute the environment and risk to human health when processed, recycled or disposed of. The rapid accumulation of electronic waste across the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) has prompted an investigation concerning its implications on the environment and public health.

Addressing this issue, team Electrocycle consisting of team members Karan Dharmendra Patil, Man Bahadur Shahi, Rouzan Masalma, Leen Shurafa and Saja Shamma came up with the solution.

Electrocycle is first and only electronic waste recycling company based in Palestine. The company will offer green recycling of electronic waste and safe data destruction services. Palestine has become a dumpster and with this company and its products, team electrocycle wants to make an impact on the people by giving them hope and send products outside of Palestine to draw their attention towards Palestine’s situation and support the cause. Company recycling aim is to save Palestine from pollution and conserve its natural resources through a quantum leap in the culture of e-waste recycling. The company will solve the region’s economic issues by generating new job opportunities, environment problems for example the deterioration of agricultural production, water resource depletion and scarcity and the threat of climate change. Target markets are the electronic waste dumpster of Athina village because it’s occupational landfill for the E-waste, shops and maintenance companies for electronic devices, Electronic panel manufacturers, IT companies and banks. Company’s financial highlights will be for disassembly equipment, initial labor costs and Awareness campaign.

1 Stop mobile museum - A story of a nation

In Iraq, between the fall of Mosul in June 2014 and February 2015 (only in 1 year) ISIL had plundered and destroyed at least 28 historical religious buildings in one city that had existed over 7000 thousand years.

Team 1 Stop Mobile Museum consisting of team members Bahar Abdulrahman Hassan Aljammoor, Nasiru Abdullahi, Bugaje Idris Bashir, Amandine DEA, George, Mohammed Ibrahim Aminu, have decided to take advantage of art to start recovering, documenting and preserving the community culture by designing necklaces as symbols inspired by the cultural sites and heritage. The "1 Stop mobile museum" is going to exhibit stories through AR, VR and videos along with the symbolic necklaces about the cultural sites across the country. In addition to that, the company is going to also focus and document the historical artifacts taken away from Iraqi heritage sites and sold away to other museums across the world. It's worth mentioning that the mobile museum will also maintain the connectivity of the past and the future generations which is interrupted due to frequent wars in the country.

With this project, team 1 Stop Mobile Museum are sure that the future generation of youth who forms 65% of a 35M nation now and the international visitors of 2.6 M annually will have better awareness of Iraq's rich cultural heritage.

Fill & Feel

Packaging materials pollute the environment and cosmetic industries are trying hard to bring change in packaging. To solve this issue, Zarrin Tasnim, Bidisha Kaphle, Samia Ilma Tarshaan and Sebika Sitoula came up with the concept of Fill & Feel where they bring change in supply chain system by removing the package.

Fill & Feel is just any other "SUPER SHOP" near your door-step but they make sure "Plastic doesn't become the 5th Member of you Family".

Fill & Feel recognizes each individual household impacting environment in a large scale and create "Refill Station" where one can refill the used empty bottles of self-care products like Lotion, Face wash, Shampoo etc. The team plans divide the capital city according to income generation of people and install our physical station in specific regions.

The company will refill the containers by buying bulk amount products from brands. People can either bring their own containers or buy the bio-plastic containers to use it for future. These bio-plastic containers will be created by rural women who will be trained to enhance employment as well.

The product will have verification and expiration given by the brand itself so that there is no chance of losing the trust of consumers. The main concern of the company will be one of a kind focusing on zero-waste. Through proper marketing and branding we will create awareness and connect people in the grass root level.
