Sixth edition of Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp (GEB) was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 16th to 19th December 2019. GEB bought together 160 young and innovative minds from more than 35 different countries along with 13 mentors/ speakers from the renowned institutions around the world.
Organized in collaboration with Solve Business School, France as co-organizer and Asia School of Business (ASB) in collaboration with MIT Sloan School of Management started on 16th December evening. The opening session was followed by the unique team formation session where participants get the opportunity to pitch their ideas. Renowned for its diverse network and mentorship, GEB has multiple networking as well as team work sessions with mentors in the schedule.
Along with networking and mentorship sessions, GEB had conducted some of its session at Asia School of Business (ASB) in collaboration with MIT Sloan School of Management by the faculty of ASB including Prof. Dr. Rajesh Nair—the Director of ASB Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center who interacted with the participants about ‘Ideation’ and ‘Design Thinking’, Mei Kok—Senior Program Manager for the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at the Asia School of Business (ASB). Other speakers include Ben Lim—Managing Partner at NEXEA, an early Startup Accelerator, Angel Network and Venture Capital, Chin Chang—Program Manager, Spring Activator Inc., Canada, Junaid Malik—Co-Founder for Serendipity Venture, Ass. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Ha— Director of Innovation and Incubation Space at the Foreign Trade University, Yin Yin Boey—Raw Vegan Celebrity Chef and Educator , Faye Lim—founder of THE ROJAK PROJEK, Shantanu Kumar—head of AI products at inFEEDO , Anurag Singh—co-founder and CEO of Crumblyy and Buna Dahal— Founder of Dynamic Buna.
16 different business ideas were pitched in the 6th edition of the Bootcamp. These ideas were evaluated by Ass. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Ha and Mr. Desh Deepak Dwivedi as the panel of judges. The Winning idea of the Bootcamp was “Meal Minion” which is a 360-degree restaurant management platform by providing a well-integrated and user-friendly system that aids into the day to day operations of a restaurant through the use of state-of-the-art point of sales software, data analytics, accounting, dynamic inventory management, and payroll services. The team members were Daium Ahsan Butt, Adnan Azeem, Iwo Adam Hachulski, Hijab Ali and Yashwi Solanki.
The best team of 6th GEB was 1 Stop mobile museum - A story of a nation. The team members were Bahar Abdulrahman Hassan Aljammoor, Nasiru Abdullahi, Bugaje Idris Bashir, Amandine DEA, George, Mohammed Ibrahim Aminu. The startup "1 Stop mobile museum" is going to exhibit stories through AR, VR and videos along with the symbolic necklaces about the cultural sites across the country. In addition to that, the company is going to also focus and document the historical artifacts taken away from Iraqi heritage sites and sold away to other museums across the world.
Other ideas pitched were Electrocycle (first and only electronic waste recycling company based in Palestine. The company will offer green recycling of electronic waste and safe data destruction services), Fill & Feel (Fill & Feel recognizes each individual household impacting environment in a large scale and create "Refill Station" where one can refill the used empty bottles of self-care products like Lotion, Face wash, Shampoo etc.) , Green Elite (the concept to get real time data from the sensors and store the data in cloud through IOT and analyze the data with AI technology and send notifications or alert to department, organizations, general community and people so that they can take preventive actions before extreme conditions), Aurora eSports (platform for online tournaments), THE WAY (platform that provides service of transferring product and goods), SuperChamp tunnel (startup that aim to bring practical wisdom in the form of life skills workshop every week that are completely fun and activity based yet very insightful and life transformational as that sunlight and external environment), Ipeary.com (online platform where any user can design their website without any hassle or knowledge of coding), Grow Nepal Social Enterprise (a complete package of Business Development service to MSMEs along with helping them raise the Investment), ELESCO (a startup aiming on converting regular petroleum vehicles operating in the Kathmandu valley of Nepal to hybrid vehicles by adding electric or a combination of electric and solar components in them), Lavida (platform that aims to create a more accessible, more affordable and smart rehabilitation system for CVD patients), E-farm (platform that provides services like online farming and horticulture), Bio-Piper (a startup will provide Biodegradable food containers & other alternatives for paper/plastic usage), Educere (a private educational institute which will bring various cultures of the world together in one place through international staff and exchange programs), Greenshopping (a platform that will create a better food system along with reducing the wastage of the food products in the farm).
Besides working on the business or startup ideas, GEB also provides a platform of GEBx. GEBx is a story sharing stage provided by GEB to the selected participants of GEB. 6th edition of Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp had hosted GEBx for the second time where selected 9 participants from different parts of the world had shared their roller-coaster journey of being an entrepreneur. The speakers were Hamdi Hatu (Palestine), Omaima Doukkane (Morocco), Relotegile Thobela Malepe (South Africa), Zarrin Tasnim (Bangladesh), Vaibhav Nahata (Nepal), Temsurenla AO (India), Akbar Khasanov (Uzbekistan), Deyamon Amandine DEA (Cote d’Ivory) and Sheikh Mehedi Hasan (Bangladesh)
GEB is more than competition to all the participants. It is a platform that brings people with great ideas and startups and help participants groom themselves along with growing the global network and cultural exchange.
